Social Work

Social workers provide individual, couple, and family counselling. Click each practitioner for more information about their practice and the types of counselling they offer!

Hi! I’m Emma! I like to talk about feelings and ask questions. As a counsellor, my sessions are casual and conversational. I work from a trauma-informed lens, including recognizing the trauma we take on just existing within an oppressive, capitalist world.

I pull bits and pieces from a number of different modalities to create a sort of therapeutic trail mix that works for me.

Areas of focus:

  • Trauma
  • Sexuality and gender identity
  • Healthy relationships and self-esteem
  • Youth/adolescent issues
  • Non-traditional relationships including kink dynamics, non-monogamy, and blended families
  • Neurodivergence

Willkommen! Bienvenue! And Welcome! I’m Helen and in case you missed the cabaret reference, I am a big theatre nerd! I am also a Social Worker who is passionate about helping people learn to live their lives with radical honesty and epic bravery. I think people feel best when they can be their authentic selves. I strive to establish a connection with clients that helps them feel safe, heard, validated, and seen. I value honesty and transparency and strive to reflect this in my practice and daily life. I help people find hope in situations that feel hard or hopeless. I have been around long enough to know that no one gets through this life without experiencing some type of distress or trauma and I truly believe that everyone can use a good therapist at least once in their life!

As a proud member of the queer community, I feel strongly about advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and persons. I am passionate about speaking up and fighting against homophobia and transphobia. I provide gender-affirming, trauma-informed counselling including medical readiness sessions to help prepare for and support after gender-affirming medical care visits. I am trained in a variety of modalities, use an eclectic style, and weave elements of different models together to best suit the person I am working with. I have worked in a variety of different settings with various populations, but I feel most at home within the Queer community.

Assisting parents to deal with the stressors of having children/youth who are struggling is also a passion of mine. I have two neuro-spicy children and know how difficult it can be to parent. As a parent, we all just want what is best for our children but knowing what that is, isn’t always easy and we often face so much judgment from others. I provide support to parents and caregivers that is safe, gentle and non-judgemental.
